Speaking about “video with a social theme” we especially consider films that deal with the world of disability; but what is important to me is not describing a limitation or a lack, but rather transmitting empathy to the spectators towards a certain human condition, that maybe does not concern the viewer at that moment but that could concern him before or then, and from which the public should not feel a feeling of distance but one of participatory understanding.
The challenge for such works is avoiding to be pietistic or indulgent, without sweetening the reality and possibly keeping a tone as light as possible.
